The decision by the Council of Europe on Loizidou case postponed

The decision by the Council of Europe regarding the implementation of the court order in the Loizidou case was postponed until next Wednesday.

Turkey achieved the postponement following the intense objection of its permanent representative at the seat of the Council of Europe regarding the use of a specific wording that did not leave room to Ankara to back out.

The wording was part of a draft of the reply on the part of the Committee of Permanent Representatives and concerned the actions undertaken by the Committee in order to ensure the implementation of the court order in the Loizidou case.

Representatives of many countries criticized the stance held by Turkey towards the Committee, which is responsible for the execution of the judgment in the Loizidou case."
