Cyprus Peace Day at Ledra Palace


The statement issued on the occasion said: “We know that we have a large number of “Days” in Cyprus when one side weeps while the other dance with joy to mark it. But, we need “Days” to celebrate together. We haven’t yet achieved the solution of the Cyprus problem but we’ve taken great steps recently towards the rebuilding of trust and good relations between the two peoples. It is a fact that the joint efforts of the two sides over the years helped to create the present climate. WE invite all the Cypriots, together with their families and friends to the celebrations of the Cyprus Peace Day that will take place at Ledra Palace Hotel, on the Green Line, on 30 September, 2003.

Join us to celebrate and to find ways to lessen each other’s sorrow.  The event will start at 8:00pm will candle lighting and observing silence in memory of all Cypriots killed in action.

All the messages will be related in Deaf and dumb speech sings. Young people will give their messages. During the evening, a special celebration will take place to present the winner his present set by Kazafana people to be given to the person who worked hardest for peace in their village. Voluntary people will be able to blocd samples at medical units supported by the World Doctors; Doctors of the two Communities’ organizations and Kemal Saracoglu and Karakariou Foundations.

Peace rhythms are the Bi-Communal Music Group that will play during the Cyprus Peace celebrations. A Bi-Communal dance group-Peace Steps will also take part."
