It is ironic that, as of 1 May 2004, Cypriots will be able to travel, reside, work, and invest in all EU countries except in their own country, while other EU nationals will enjoy these rights in Cyprus. This fundamental human rights issue cannot be swept under the rug. Van Coufoudakis on the Annan Plan Does the international community really wish to establish a precedent under which a minority may eventually acquire equal status, equal rights and its own constituent state as a consequence of an invasion carried out in breach of international law? Having read the final version of the Annan Plan published on 31 March 2004, I am more convinced than ever that the Greek Cypriot people must say No in the forthcoming referendum. Lobby for Cyprus is campaigning against the plan and for the principles of democracy, human rights and international law. Print version UK £5 (+50p P&P) To order telephone ISBN 0 9538891 1 4 |
